Flying Inflatable Saucers Crash-Land at Carvel

In 1951, Tom Carvel named his newest ice cream sandwich after the flying saucer craze sweeping America. Seventy-five years later, Carvel wanted to bring that story back in a way nobody could miss. The idea was to make its iconic Flying Saucer look like it had crash-landed on the rooftops of three historic ice cream shops across the East Coast.

We helped turn that idea into three giant, 18-foot inflatable replicas, complete with chocolate wafers and oversized scoops of ice cream. The installations appeared in Coney Island, Massapequa, and West Palm Beach, turning familiar storefronts into something worth stopping for. Fans lined up for photos and 75-cent Flying Saucers, while the anniversary campaign made headlines in USA Today, People, Fox News, and Parade. Together, the activation and national offer generated a client-reported 1.3 billion media impressions. A 75-year-old ice cream sandwich had become national news again.
